The invention relates to a device offering, according to the particular need, two modes of operation. By pressing the control rod 2, the flushing apparatus releases approximately 6 l. of water. By pulling the rod, the tank empties fully. It is essentially made up of a sleeve 6 equipped with a spring 11 and with a stirrup 14 pressing, under the action of the water, a float 16 against a pin 8 which passes through a central tube 17 firmly fixed to a nonreturn valve (not shown). By pressing the rod 2, the spring 11 is compressed and the stirrup 14 is locked under the pin 8. By releasing the rod 2, the spring 11 lifts the mechanism releasing the water in the tank 1. The sinking of the water level moves the float 16 and the system is unlocked thus halting the outflow of liquid. By pulling the rod 2, the sleeve 6 lifts the whole device and the flushing apparatus empties completely. The device according to the invention is intended for water flushing devices and for industry. <IMAGE>
