PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stable sensitizing dye for a photoelectric conversion for a dye-sensitized photoelectric conversion cell having high conversion efficiency of solar energy without using depletable raw materials such as ruthenium.SOLUTION: There is provided a sensitizing dye for a photoelectric conversion represented by the formula (1). In the formula (1), where Rto Rrepresent each independently a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms, an alkoxy group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms, or an alkylthio group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms, X represents a direct bond, an ethene-1,2-diyl group (-CH=CH-) or an ethene-1,2-diyl group (-C≡C-), and geometric isomers by a double bond represent both.
