plasma spray coating an oxide-based bond coat over top of the ceramic matrix composite; selecting a method of applying a columnar top coat over the oxide-based bond coat, wherein the method of applying the columnar top coat is selected from the group consisting of electron beam physical vapor deposition and directed vapor deposition; and depositing a columnar top coat over the oxide-based bond coat according to the selected method of applying the columnar top coat. |
