The computing device is configured to navigate the visual inspection device from a first location to a second location.

A computer-implemented system for enhanced tip-tracking and navigation of visual inspection devices, said system comprising: a visual inspection device capable of capturing data regarding physical characteristics of the physical asset; an enclosure at least partially containing said visual inspection device; a plurality of spatially sensitive fibers at least partly encased in said enclosure; a computing device including a memory device and a processor coupled to said memory device; and a storage device coupled to said computing device, said storage device including an engineering model substantially representing the physical asset, said computing device configured to: receive an insertion location from said visual inspection device, wherein an insertion location substantially represents a point where said visual inspection device is inserted into the physical asset;receive fiber information associated with said visual inspection device from said plurality of spatially sensitive fibers;determine the real-time location of said visual inspection device using said fiber information;identify the real-time location of said visual inspection device with respect to said engineering model; andnavigate said visual inspection device from a first location to a second location within the physical asset.
