PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent defects caused by partial peeling of a liquid crystal layer in an optical film such as a patterned retardation film.SOLUTION: An intermediate product of an optical film is provided, including an alignment layer 3 and a retardation layer 4 successively layered on a transparent substrate 2, and wound into a roll, in which the retardation layer 4 is formed to be narrower than the alignment layer 3.
