a cannula having a first end, a second end, and a bore configured to receive a sample from a target area, the bore having:
a length extending from the second end of the bore through the first end;a circular cross-section with a substantially constant diameter along a majority of the length of the bore; anda non-circular cross-section along a minority of the length of the bore and closer to the first end than the second end.
