PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a subject information acquisition device by which a photoacoustic signal that is generated in a subject with a high degree of precision.SOLUTION: A subject information acquisition device includes: a support member for a person to be examined, provided with an opening into which a subject, which is a part of a person to be examined, is inserted; a light irradiation part for irradiating light to the subject inserted ino the opening; a holding member arranged between the subject and the light irradiation part for holding the subject; a scanning mechanism that moves the light irradiation part along a first axis parallel to the subject insertion direction; a probe for receiving an acoustic wave generated due to the light irradiated to the subject; a processing part for generating characteristic information of the subject from the acoustic wave received by the probe; and a control part for determining the position of the light irradiation part with respect to the holding member based on the position of the holding member and the emission direction of the light emitted from the light irradiation part, and moving the light irradiation part to the determined position using the scanning mechanism. |
