Provided is an image forming device that comprises: a transport member that sequentially transports a recording medium; a first sensor that is provided at a first detecting position on the upstream side in the transport direction, by way of the transport member, of the recording media and that detects the presence of the recording medium; a second sensor that is provided in a second detecting position that is further downstream than the first detecting position in the transport direction of the recording media and that detects the presence of the recording medium; a plurality of sensor dogs that are provided in a rotary support member that drives the transport member and that are disposed in positions to detect alternately, on the transport member, parts having the recording medium and parts without the recording medium; a timing sensor that detects the passage of a sensor dog and determines the detection timing for the first sensor and the second sensor; and a determining device that determines a jam when the first sensor or the second sensor continuously detects the presence of the recording medium and that determines a jam when there is an inconsistency in the information, from the first sensor and second sensor, for the presence of the recording medium. |
