PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic electroluminescent element which has excellent luminous efficiency and durability and to provide an organic electroluminescent element which has high resistance to physical shock. SOLUTION: In a material for an organic electroluminescent element, the content of a compound represented by formula (1) in the material for the organic electroluminescent element is 98.5% or more and 99.999% or less, the total content of specific compounds is 0.001% or more and 1% or less, and the total of the contents of other components is less than 0.5%. In the formula, R<SB>1</SB>to R<SB>8</SB>are each independently hydrogen, alkyl, aryl, heteroaryl, cyano, halogen or nitro; Ra and Rb, when they are plural, are each independently alkyl, perfluoroalkyl, alkoxy, aryl or the like; and na and nb are each an integer of from 0 to 8.
