PURPOSE:To check the presence or absence of laminar cracks at a low cost, by heating the surfaces of the shapeless refractory applying bodies lined on the inside circumferential surface of a ladle to a specific temp. by atmosphere heating, allowing the same to cool down to an ordinary temp. and inspecting residual stresses. CONSTITUTION:Shapeless refractories are lined on the inside circumferential surfaces of the arc-shaed iron shell of a ladle, whereby shapeless refractory applying bodies are formed. Such bodies are dried by atmosphere heating using burners or the like to increase the surface temp. of the applying bodies to 1,200 deg.C. The applying bodies are cooled down to an ordinary temp. by natural cooling, and the residual stresses in the cylindrical direction of the applying bodies are inspected at an ordinary temp. If no residual stresses are detected in this inspection, it is judged that no laminar cracks are generated in the applying bodies. |
