The present invention relates to a cosmetic composition containing mucus of flax seeds or an extract of the mucus. The cosmetic composition can be used as a cosmetic material for moisturizing skin. Especially, the cosmetic composition is less sticky and has excellent spreadability, applicability and cushioning properties. The cosmetic composition can be very tightly applied on the skin. 0.001-100.0 wt% of the mucus of flax seeds or the extract of the mucus is contained with respect to the total weight of the cosmetic composition.
