In order to provide a coated cutting tool that has superior wear resistance and a long service life, a coated cutting tool is formed from a base material and a coating layer, wherein at least one layer of the coating layer is a coarse-grained layer that: has an average particle size (Lx) of greater than 200 nm when measured in a direction parallel to the interface of the coating layer and the base material; has the composition (AlaTibMc)X (in which M represents at least one element selected from among Zr, Hf, V, Nb, Ta, Cr, Mo, W, Y, B and Si, a represents the atomic ratio of elemental Al to the total of elemental Al, elemental Ti and elemental M, b represents the atomic ratio of elemental Ti to the total of elemental Al, elemental Ti and elemental M, X represents at least one element selected from among C, N and O, c represents the atomic ratio of elemental M to the total of elemental Al, elemental Ti and elemental M, and a, b and c satisfy the formulae 0.30≤a≤0.65, 0.35≤b≤0.70, 0≤c≤0.20, and a+b+c=1); and has an average layer thickness of 0.2-10 μm. |
