The present invention contributes to facilitation of packet control between the tunnel end points of a tunneling protocol. A packet rewriting apparatus is located between a tunnel end point and a switch that refers to the content of the original header to determine a processing to be applied to a packet. The packet rewriting apparatus comprises: a packet rewriting rule storage unit that stores a packet rewriting rule for writing, into a predetermined area of the original header, information corresponding to a virtual network identifier included in an additional header of the packet outputted from the tunnel end point; and a packet rewriting unit that rewrites, according to the packet rewriting rule, the packet such that the information corresponding to the virtual network identifier is written into the original header of the transmitted packet. |
