An article is moulded from a thermoplastic synthetic resin containing a plasticiser which is insoluble in water, and the plasticiser is then removed sufficiently to give the article the requisite hardness or rigidity by treating the article with a solvent for the plasticiser which does not affect the resin. The article may be immersed in the solvent.
