PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of producing a ceramic honeycomb structure which can prevent occurrence of cracks after burning-out of a binder and a pore-forming material owing to sufficient functioning of the colloidal particles as a reinforcing material, in firing a ceramic honeycomb molding containing colloidal particles, and reduce possibility of occurrence of cracks after firing, even when a large-sized and high-porosity honeycomb structure with an outside diameter of 150 mm or larger and a porosity of 50% or higher is produced.SOLUTION: A method of producing a ceramic honeycomb structure includes a mixing step of mixing an aggregate raw material composed of at least a ceramic, an organic binder, a pore-forming material and water together, a kneading step of kneading the resultant mixture to form a green body, a molding step of extrusion-molding the green body into a honeycomb shape, a drying step of drying the extrusion-molded product and a firing step of firing the dried product to obtain a ceramic honeycomb structure of an outside diameter of 150 mm or larger and a porosity of 50% or higher. In the mixing step, a colloidal solution is sprayed onto the mixture. |
