PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a treatment method of water to be treated capable of adjusting an operation condition in real time, and surely maintaining water quality of treating water at a constant level or above.SOLUTION: A treatment method of water to be treated comprises the steps of: performing biological treatment of water to be treated by introducing the water to be treated containing a COD component into a biological treatment tank housing active sludge containing bacteria capable of decomposing the COD component; separating the active sludge supplied from the biological treatment tank and the treated water to be treated in a settling tank positioned in a stage subsequent to the biological treatment tank; measuring a state in the settling tank by an interface meter installed in the settling tank; measuring the number of bacteria in the active sludge housed in the biological treatment tank; and adjusting an operation condition in the biological treatment tank on the basis of the measurement result by the interface meter and the measurement result of the number of bacteria.
