PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel 5 V class spinel showing an operation potential of 4.5 V or more (5 V class) as a cathode active material for a lithium secondary battery and capable of suppressing the gas generation amount in a high temperature cycle.SOLUTION: There is provided a manganese based spinel type lithium transition metal oxide represented by Li[NiMnLiTiM]O, where 0≤z≤0.3, 0.3≤y<0.6, M=one or more metal element selected from a group consisting of Al, Mg, Fe and Co, and a>0, b>0 and 2≤b/a≤8. |
