PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a leather-like rope with a strength closer to a leather-like rope, which is obtained by shredding a natural leather. SOLUTION: A leather-like substrate comprising a non-woven fabric, which is an entangled sheet made from fiber bundle of polyester ultra fine filament having an average single fiber fineness of 0.5 dtex or less. When MD represents a face direction at which the fiber bundle is oriented most and CD represents a face direction orthogonal to MD, a number density (A) of the vertical cross section of the fiber bundle in a vertical cross section of MD is 15 or more in average per 40000μm<SP POS="POST">2</SP>and a ratio of the number density (A) to a number density (B) of the vertical cross section of the fiber bundle in a vertical cross section of CD (number density (A)/number density (B)) is 2 or more in average, the break strength of MD is 2 kg/mm<SP POS="POST">2</SP>or more, 5% elongation strength is 0.6 kg/mm<SP POS="POST">2</SP>or more.
