A safety razor is provided having a handle, a cartridge mounted to the handle and a pair of primary guards joined to the cartridge, each of the primary guards having a plurality fins that define a plurality of fin slots. The safety razor also includes one or more primary shaving blades mounted to the cartridge and positioned adjacent the pair of primary guards. A shaving aid retention guard is positioned between the pair of primary guards. The shaving aid retention guard has a plurality of walls defining a plurality of guard slots, wherein a width of the guard slots is greater than the width of the fin slots. |
