A radio communication system comprises a carrier oscillator (101; 201; 301) configured to generate a carrier signal (S C ) at a carrier frequency (f C ), a sub-carrier oscillator (102; 202; 302) configured to generate a sub-carrier signal (S SC ) at a sub-carrier frequency (f 1 ), and a phase error detection means (106, 107, 108; 206, 207, 208; 306, 307, 308) configured to generate an error-indicator (V µ ) corresponding to a phase error (µ)of a mixed signal (S M ) comprising a mixing product of the carrier signal (S C ) and the sub-carrier signal (S SC ). The sub-carrier oscillator (102; 202; 302) is implemented as a voltage-controlled-oscillator (102; 202; 302) being controlled by the error-indicator (V µ ) of the phase error detection means (106, 107, 108; 206, 207, 208; 306, 307, 308).
