Game sequences initiated by scanning of QR codes

A method, apparatus, and computer readable storage to implement a game which is initiated by a player scanning a QR code on a portable device. The player's physical location can be determined from QR code, and then potential prizes in the game are determined based on the location of the player. The potential prizes can come in the form of slices on a wheel and the wheel is spun to a random result.

executing on a processing unit instructions to perform: scanning a QR code on a portable device; determining a location based on the QR code; determining a plurality of slices, each slice comprising a prize, at least one of the slices determined using the QR code; forming a wheel comprising the plurality of slices; spinning the wheel to a winning slice; and awarding a prize associated with the winning slice.
