PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light source device capable of reducing speckle noise with a simple configuration, and a projector having such a light source device and capable of displaying a high quality image in which speckles are reduced.SOLUTION: A light source device 100 includes: a light source part 10; a light diffusion element 50A which is provided in a manner rotatable around a predetermined rotational axis 58, and in which a plurality of diffusion regions are continuously formed around the rotational axis 58; and a motor 59 which makes the light diffusion element 50A rotate in such a manner that a region where light from the light source part 10 enters in the light diffusion element 50A moves among the plurality of diffusion regions. In the plurality of diffusion regions, a first diffusion region and a second diffusion region having a diffusion characteristic different from a diffusion characteristic of the first diffusion region are provided adjacent to each other. |
