PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing method of effectively removing noise around an edge while storing an edge component in an image, and to provide an image processing apparatus.SOLUTION: An image processing method includes: determining a pixel statistical value of pixels and edge information for each area of multiple layers including a pixel of interest and having sequentially reducing areas, correcting difference information between the pixel statistical value of the layer area and a pixel statistical value of a layer area larger than that by use of the edge information; correcting a pixel statistical value of the layer area by use of the corrected difference information and a pixel statistical value of the area larger than the above layer area; repeatedly correcting the pixel statistical value of the layer area sequentially in the layers from the area of the maximum area to the area of the minimum area; and performing pixel-of-interest correction control on the basis of the edge information in an area larger by one layer than the pixel of interest. |
