PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To generate a hybrid screening image of high image quality, which is suitable for a printing process.SOLUTION: For converting a gray scale image into a hybrid screening image, the gray scale image is converted into a first binary image consisting of a black pixel and a white pixel, and the number of first black pixels included in the first binary image is detected. A conversion error which occurs when the first binary image is generated is detected. The first binary image is converted into a secondary binary image in response to the number of first black pixels and the conversion error. The number of second black pixels included in the second binary image is detected, and the second binary image is converted into an FM screening image in response to the number of second black pixels. A prescribed pixel pattern formed of the plurality of adjacent pixels is detected from the FM screening image. Prescribed pattern conversion processing is performed on the detected prescribed pixel pattern, and the hybrid screening image is generated. |
