PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coolant leakage detection method and a coolant leakage detection system which learn an optimum threshold of information used for determination of coolant leakage of a refrigerator, permit automatic setting and also can suppress the occurrence of erroneous determination due to variation of outside air temperature or the like.SOLUTION: A coolant leakage detection method includes: a coolant leakage determination parameter first time learning value processing step S9 in which a temperature difference between an inlet and an outlet of an evaporator of a refrigerator is set as coolant leakage determination parameter; a coolant leakage determination parameter learning value updating step S12 in which a standard value of coolant leakage determination parameter is updated by change of outside air temperature and period elapse from the last updating; a solenoid valve opening sequential averaging processing step S5 in which the average value of opening rate calculated from a detection value of solenoid valve operation detection means is set as solenoid valve opening; and a refrigerator coolant leakage determination process in which the coolant leakage of the refrigerator is determined based on the coolant leakage determination parameter and the standard value of the coolant leakage determination parameter. Therein, the coolant leakage of the refrigerator is determined by using information by means of the solenoid valve opening in combination.
