Disclosed is a method for manufacturing a mask assembly for thin film deposition. The method for manufacturing a mask assembly for thin film deposition comprises the steps of: preparing a mask frame; preparing a stick-shaped split mask; positioning the split mask on the mask frame; and spot welding both edge regions of the split mask on the mask frame, wherein the spot welding step includes the steps of: forming a central welding point at a center portion of the edge regions of the split mask; forming first welding points in a zigzag formation from peripheral regions at both sides of the center portion toward the center portion in a direction perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the split mask; and forming second welding points between the first welding points in a direction perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the split mask.
