PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for measuring equol in a biological specimen by an immunological method, a kit for measuring the equol therein, and a method for determining an equol-producing ability of a subject.SOLUTION: The present invention provides: a measurement method that uses S-equol as at least one antigen to be selected from the group consisting of a standard antigen used for preparing a calibration curve and a labelled antigen competing with equol in a biological specimen; a kit that includes S-equol as at least one antigen to be selected from the group consisting of the standard antigen and the labelled antigen; and a determination method that includes a step of measuring equol in the biological specimen derived from a subject having soybean isoflavone ingested by an immunological method using the S-equol as at least one antigen selected from the group consisting of the standard antigen and the labelled antigen, and a step of determining an equol-producing ability of the subject on the basis of a measurement value of the equol obtained by the step.
