<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display device that can maintain or improve optical performance and is excellent also in view of technique and productivity.SOLUTION: An image display device includes an image source and an optical sheet arranged on an observer side of the image source. The optical sheet includes: a first optical sheet 11; and a second optical sheet 21 that is arranged apart from the first optical sheet at a given space A. The first optical sheet includes an optical functional sheet layer 12 in which prism portions 14 transmitting light and light absorption portions 15 absorbing light are alternately arranged along a sheet surface. The prism portions have a substantially trapezoidal shape of which a narrower upper base is in contact with the space. The light absorption portions have a substantially triangular cross section having a base in contact with the space. On base surfaces of the light absorption portions facing the space in the optical functional sheet layer, a mat surface or a concave portion is formed.
