PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To determine whether fuel of an engine is heavy with high accuracy.SOLUTION: A torque difference &Dgr;Te is calculated by subtracting an output torque Te from a target torque Te* of an engine (S160). A torque difference threshold &Dgr;Teref is set to have a tendency of getting larger as the target torque Te* is larger (S170). The torque difference &Dgr;Te is compared with the torque difference threshold &Dgr;Te to determine whether fuel of the engine is heavy (S180 to S220). This enables whether the fuel of the engine is heavy to be determined with higher accuracy than a method in which a predetermined value (fixed value) is used as the torque difference threshold &Dgr;Teref. |
