<p>According to one embodiment, an image display apparatus includes a light source (10), a modulation unit (102), a first array (103), and a second array (104). The modulation unit (102) modulates the intensity and color of light to generate beams corresponding to each of modulated pixels included in a modulated pixel group. The first array (103) is formed by juxtaposing a plurality of first deflection elements each having a generating line parallel to a vertical direction of the modulated pixels.
