The present invention relates to a food composition for promoting alcohol decomposition and alleviating hangover comprising an extract of jujube leaves as an active ingredient. In particular, the extract of jujube leaves is extracted by a solvent selected from a group constituted by water, a C1 or C4 low grade alcohol, hexane, methylene chloride, ethyl acetate and a mixed solvent of those. More particularly, the extract of jujube leaves is extracted by methanol. The extract of jujube leaves: has an excellent anti-oxidative effect resulted from phenolic compounds; has an excellent alcohol decomposition and liver protection effect; and thus is expected to be applied as an excellent material for developing drinks for alleviating hangover. |
