The present invention relates to a device for providing a mouse cursor in an electronic device and a method thereof. The electronic device is able to check whether a displayed object is an icon based on the object property data of the displayed object. For example, if the displayed object is an icon, when the mouse cursor comes within the object area of the displayed object, the electronic device can move the mouse cursor to a pre-designated reference position on the object. For example, after moving the mouse cursor, the electronic device can count pre-designated wait time. When a request to move the mouse cursor is detected, the electronic device can check whether the wait time is expired. For example, if the wait time is not expired, the request to move the mouse cursor can be ignored and the mouse cursor can be maintained at the reference position.
