[Class 20 (iii)] In windows, shutters, and the like D of the type which can be moved to a variety of open positions in a vertical or inclined surrounding framework or wall B, and which have similar parallel links E connecting points E2 intermediate the length of two opposite sides to the surrounding frame, and locating members C1 on the same two opposite sides but displaced from the link pivots and adapted to slide in guides A2 along the adjacent sides of the frame B, so that as the members C1 slide in the guides the links rock the window &c. about the members Cl out of the plane of the frame B, the links support a single window, friction means F1, F2 are provided between one or each end of one or each link and the part to which it is connected, and the axis of the pivotal connection between the links and the window is such that the window is approximately balanced in all positions relative to the frame B and is held in any of these positions by means of the friction means. The links are preferably 7/10 to 7/12 of the vertical dimension of the window, and are connected to the window below its centre of gravity. A fibre washer F between the links E and brackets A1 on the frame B prevent rattling. The friction means between the links E and the window D is shown as a fibre &c. washer F1 and a spring washer F2. Movement of the window is limited by stop G. Friction means may also be provided between the members C1 and the frame B, and between the other ends of the links and brackets A1.
