PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform efficient fixation while reducing power consumption.SOLUTION: In an image forming apparatus 1, an imaging station 52 heats a sheet with a color toner image formed by sequentially overlapping toner based on image data of multiple colors by means of a fixing roller 55a of a fixing unit 55, to fix the image. In the image forming apparatus 1, a sub-area cumulative pixel counting unit 32 determines the amount of image data of each color in a predetermined number of sub-image areas formed in a conveyance direction at image positions corresponding to sub-heating areas TA-TD in a main-scanning direction, from image data of each color for one page, as a color page-based area data amount. An all-color cumulative merge unit 33a cumulatively adds the color page-based area data amount for each sub-image area to calculate an all-color cumulative count value of all colors for one page. An area division fixing temperature control unit 56 performs heating control of the sub-heating areas TA-TD of the fixing roller 55a on the basis of the all-color cumulative count value for one page for each sub-image area. |
