PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To properly perform colorimetry even when a defective image is included in a part of a colorimetry object.SOLUTION: In an image forming apparatus 1, a plurality of nozzles of a recording head 20 discharge ink drops to form a multi-color image on a recording medium, and a nozzle state detection unit detects a missing state of the image formed by the recording head 20. When a colorimetry subject formed on the recording medium by the recording head 20 is imaged by an imaging unit 30 in a predetermined imaging range for colorimetry, the image forming apparatus 1 performs colorimetry on the basis of an imaging result of the imaging unit 30 in an effective imaging range which is obtained by excluding a detected missing range from the imaging range of the imaging unit 30.
