The invention relates to a method for producing structures on a surface (14) of a workpiece (12), wherein the structures have an average depth, an average distance from each other and an average extent, and wherein, in the method, electromagnetic radiation of a pulsed laser (30) is guided as a laser beam (36) on the surface (14) of the workpiece (12) and forms there a light spot (46) such that structures are produced whose average dimension is smaller than an extension of the light spot. The invention is characterized in that a spatial distribution of field strengths of electric and/or magnetic fields, which are acting upon the surface (14), is selected in such a way that the structures have a predetermined average depth and/or a predetermined average distance from each other. |
