The vehicle(10) has mobile terminals (12, 14, 16, 18) receiving and/or transmitting messages from and/or to a vehicle-external apparatus (24) i.e. Internet server, and/or another motor vehicle. A central control unit stores two or multiple different configuration data sets (34, 40, 42, 44, 46) with configuration data for each terminal. The control unit comprises selector units (48, 54) for selecting one of the data sets and adjusting the configuration data in a configuration storage (32) of each terminal based on the selected data set. The mobile terminal is selected from a navigation apparatus, an infotainment system, a mobile telephone, a medium reproducing apparatus and a car-2-X (C2X) communication system. An independent claim is also included for a method for controlling an amount of data and/or a data type exchanged by a motor vehicle with a vehicle-external apparatus and/or another motor vehicle.
