PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve display quality, yield and production efficiency.SOLUTION: A liquid crystal display device includes: a first substrate; a second substrate; a first electrode 11 provided on one surface of the first substrate and extending to a first direction; a second electrode 12 provided on one surface of the second substrate and extending to a second direction orthogonal to the first direction; and a vertically oriented liquid crystal layer provided between the one surface of the first substrate and the one surface of the second substrate. A pixel is formed on a region where the first electrode 11 and the second electrode 12 intersect with each other, and at least one of the first substrate and the second substrate is subjected to alignment treatment in a direction parallel to the first direction. At least one electrode edge of the second electrode 12 is shaped so as to periodically fold back including a straight line or a curved line obliquely intersecting with the first direction. A pixel edge of the pixel is defined including the straight line or the curved line obliquely intersecting. All of points of change where a plurality of straight lines or curved lines are connected to each other at the electrode edge of the second electrode 12 are arranged overlapping on the first electrode 11 in plan view. |
