[Class 20(iii)] A weatherstrip, particularly for motor car doors, comprises a resilient sealing strip 21, an elongated, transversely and longitudinally distortable wire supporting element 31 carried in a T-shaped groove 27 in the strip and a number of spring wire fastening elements 34 carried by the supporting element and having legs 38 projecting from a flat face 22 of the strip. The strip is fitted around the frame 11 of a car door by pressing the legs 38 of the fasteners through holes provided at intervals along the frame members, the legs snapping into the holes to hold the flat faces 22 and 23 of the strip firmly against the frame. The corrugated wire supporting element 31 allows the strip to be bent, flexed, twisted or stretched to follow the contours of the door frame, whilst the fasteners retain it in close contact therewith at all points.</p> |
