PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for diagnosing and treating cancers associated with a tumor suppressor designated TS10q23.3.SOLUTION: The isolated polypeptide has a specific amino acid sequence encoding the tumor suppressor. The monoclonal antibody is immunologically bound to the tumor suppressor. The hybridoma cell produces the monoclonal antibody. The isolated nucleic acid or the complement thereof contains a region encoding the tumor suppressor, an allelic variant or mutant thereof. The method for diagnosing cancers comprises a process of assaying the expression of the tumor suppressor. The method for treating cancers comprises a process of bringing a tumor cell into contact with the tumor suppressor under conditions permitting the uptake of the tumor suppressor by a tumor cell.
