PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately control an air-fuel ratio with a simple configuration.SOLUTION: A control device of an internal combustion engine comprises: a solid electrolyte body; an exhaust gas side electrode which is arranged at one side of the solid electrolyte body and contacted with exhaust gas; an atmosphere side electrode which is arranged at the other side of the solid electrolyte body and contacted with the atmosphere; and an electric circuit which applies reference voltage between the electrodes. A sensor which detects either an oxygen concentrate in the exhaust gas or an air-fuel ratio is arranged in an exhaust passage of the internal combustion engine. The sensor to detect the oxygen concentration or the air-fuel ratio has a characteristic of continuously increasing output current Ip without having a demarcation current range with an increase in voltage Vs applied between the electrodes when the air-fuel ratio is constant. The control device of the internal combustion engine controls the air-fuel ratio on the basis of the output current Ip of the sensor to detect the oxygen concentration or the air-fuel ratio. |
