The present invention relates to a method of manufacturing a plastic optical fiber coupler, comprising the steps of: arraying a plurality of plastic optical fiber to be in close contact at a holding part of a vertical support hanger which holds the plastic optical fiber to hang vertically from the holding part, and mutually coupling the plastic optical fiber with a lower coupling member at a position spaced downward from the holding part to maintain a tense floating status by self-weight tension; applying heat with a thermal heat generator to the plastic optical fiber, disposed between the holding part and the lower coupling member, to be mutually heat-fused; and cutting the portion of the plastic optical fiber which is mutually fused by heat. According to the method of manufacturing the plastic optical fiber coupler, the present invention can obtain a uniform structure along the radial direction by heat fusing the plastic optical fiber to fuse in a vertical form in the floating status by self-weight tension, and can obtain a circular structure in the coupling process of the plastic optical fiber. |
