Improvements in exhaust emission measurement devices and methods

Disclosed herein is a system 200 for facilitating a method of analysing a sample of vehicle exhaust to determine the Diesel Particulate Matter (DPM) concentration in the sample. The system 200 and method use the increase in backpressure (Ap) as DPM is collected on a filter 28 when sampling a predetermined volume of exhaust. The increase in backpressure (in mmwc) has been calibrated against elemental carbon (EC) measured by NIOSH Method 5040.
