A controller (1) for a teleprompter comprising: a base plate (5) and a top plate (3), moveable with respect to each other from an open position to a closed position, the plates resiliently biased to the open position; and position detection means for detecting the relative position of the base plate and top plate, the position detection means comprising: an inductor coil (11); a conducting core (13) arranged to move into the coil (11) as the top plate (3) moves from the open position to the closed position, thereby changing the inductance of the coil (11); and detecting means (19) for detecting the inductance of the coil (11) and outputting the relative positions of the base plate and top plate based on the inductance. |
