Provided are a vehicle status adaptive audio system and a control method. According to an embodiment of the present invention, the vehicle audio system comprises a network interface for receiving information on the state of a vehicle; an audio codec for transmitting each of audio signals to multiple speakers after processing an audio signal; and a system core for controlling the audio signal processing of the audio codec with reference to the received information on the status of the vehicle via the network interface. Therefore, the present invention can support optimal sound based on the information on the inside and outside the vehicle, and a driver does not need to adjust a sound system in response to a situation, thereby preventing accidents due to careless driving.
