Synthesizing a sealing glass by sol-gel process comprises (a) forming (E1) a solution by dissolving a silicon alkoxide in a solvent; (b) hydrolysis of (E2) the silicon alkoxide in the solution to form a monomer and/or an inorganic oligomer; (c) adding an alumina precursor, a barium oxide precursor, a calcium oxide precursor, a boron oxide precursor, a magnesium oxide precursor, water and acid in the solution; (d) agitating and condensating (E4) the mixture; (e) pulverizing (E5) the xerogel to obtain an oxide powder; and (f) glass elaboration of (E6) the oxide powder. Synthesizing a sealing glass by sol-gel process comprises (a) forming (E1) a solution by dissolving a silicon alkoxide in a solvent; (b) hydrolysis of (E2) the silicon alkoxide in the solution to form a monomer and/or an inorganic oligomer; (c) adding an alumina precursor, a barium oxide precursor, a calcium oxide precursor, a boron oxide precursor, a magnesium oxide precursor, water and acid in the solution to form a mixture with the silicon alkoxide; (d) agitating and condensating (E4) the mixture to form a xerogel; (e) pulverizing (E5) the xerogel to obtain an oxide powder; and (f) glass elaboration of (E6) the oxide powder to obtain sealing glass. Independent claims are included for: (1) the glass comprising metal oxide of formula ((BaO) u(Al 2O 3) v(CaO) w(SiO 2) x(B 2O 3) y(MgO) z); and (2) a fuel cell or a high temperature electrolyzer including series of anode compartments, series of cathode compartments, and series of joints, where the anode and cathode compartments are alternated and stacked, and the joints are made of glass. u : 0.3-0.4; v : 0.015-0.035; and w, y, z : 0.05-0.15. |
