a receiving unit that receives the registration information, anda registering unit that registers the received registration information, and wherein the device management apparatus further includes an obtaining unit configured to obtain the authentication information corresponding to the software from a predetermined storage area that holds a plurality of the authentication information items, the authentication information being obtained based on product identification information for identifying a product provided as the software and version information indicating a version of the provided product, wherein the generating unit generates the system identification information from the authentication information obtained by the obtaining unit.
