The invention relates to the field of controlling and maintaining technical systems, and more particularly to a method for inputting data and controlling a device. The present invention can be used in the creation of systems for controlling, maintaining and diagnosing computer hardware and means for the automated design and control of vehicles and domestic appliances, as well as for various technical systems. By comparison with other data input and control methods known to the applicants, the present system makes it possible to control various devices with a maximum of efficiency by means of natural human gestures and without the need for contact in adverse conditions which prevent or hamper the use of keyboards or touchscreens. At the same time, the invention provides an increase in the speed of inputting commands and data and an increase in control speed in general.
