PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase resolution of a low resolution depth image.SOLUTION: The resolution of a low resolution depth image is increased by applying geodesic joint up sampling to a high resolution image to obtain a geodesic line distance map. The depth in the low resolution depth image is interpolated using the geodesic line distance map to obtain a high resolution depth image. The high resolution image can be a grayscale image, a color image, or a binary boundary map. The low resolution depth image can be obtained by a depth sensor of an arbitrary type. |
