PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To restrain output torque of an internal combustion engine from rapidly increasing together with a change of a suction valve to an increase side of a valve characteristic.SOLUTION: An internal combustion engine is provided with a variable valve mechanism for changing a valve characteristic that is a maximum lift amount of a suction valve according to an engine operation state. Also, the internal combustion engine is provided with a turbocharger comprising a bypass passage for bypassing a turbine wheel arranged on an exhaust passage and communicating an upstream part and a downstream part of the turbine wheel of the exhaust passage; and a waist gate valve (WGV) for adjusting a flow passage area of the bypass passage. A control part for an engine opens the WGV to an opening degree on an opening side before a request (S130, S140) when a request for increasing the maximum lift amount is done according to the engine operation state (S110: YES), thereby changing the opening to a side for increasing the valve characteristic by the variable valve mechanism (S150). |
